Adnoc To Launch Mega Projects
ABU DHABI - The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and its group of companies are currently embarking on several mega projects to increase oil and gas output in the near future.
According to Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi, Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC) Member and Deputy CEO of Adnoc, these projects are being implemented to sustain current output ceiling and effect increases in a studied manner, conforming to international norms in meeting the enhanced levels of demand.
Mr Al Suwaidi who is also the director, exploration and production, said that plans and programmes are in place to step up production at wells in Abu Dhabi, necessitated by the high rise in production of member states of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) to deter the current surge in oil prices.
The UAE's crude oil output currently stands at 2.5 million barrels per day (mbpd) which will soon rise to 3 mbpd. The production capacity of the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations (Adco) will rise from the current ceiling of 1.2 mbpd to 1.4 mbpd while Abu Dhabi's offshore oil output capacity will be augmented from the current 470,000 bpd to 600,000 bpd.
