The International Entrepreneurship Forum and Exhibition
Tremendous entre-preneurial energy exists in the Arabian Gulf region, especially in its small- and medium-sized enterprises, an official said.
"The Gulf can claim many entrepreneurs who are famous the world over," said Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment For Young Leaders. "We have many success stories. Most of the large business houses here have been built by entre-preneurs," he said.
Shaikh Hamdan made his remarks ahead of the International Entrepreneurship Forum and Exhibition, scheduled to take place in May. The event is being held under the patronage of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders.
"We are still a young part of the world, in terms [of the new global economy]. As we integrate more and more into the global economy, more and more opportunities will present themselves," Shaikh Hamdan said.
The forum will be held at the Dubai International Convention Centre from May 23 to 25. About 1,500 people are expected to attend, organisers said.
Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will benefit from participating in the Entrepreneurs in Dubai exhibition, which will run alongside the forum.
"SMEs are the lifeblood of any economy," said Shaikh Hamdan. "They are the pillars that support growth and development. It is our objective to support their formation through the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders.
The exhibition and the forum are being organised by IIR Middle East and the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment For Young Business Leaders, in association with the Young Arab Leaders organisation. Among the leaders who will speak are Donald Trump, the real estate baron, and Sir Chris Evans, the United Kingdom's bio-tech innovator.
"The Establishment provides young, promising UAE nationals with more than just start-up capital [for businesses]. In addition, we guide them through the process of how to develop a business plan," Shaikh Hamdan said.
