Dubai Press Club: Arab Journalism Award 2005
The judging committee for the Arab Journalism Award 2005 met on Tuesday, February 22nd to select and short list the entries for the awards.
65 renowned media personalities and academics evaluated the 2138 entries for the awards.
Mona Al Marri, Executive Manager of Dubai Press Club and Secretary General of the Arab Journalism Award said, 'A dedicated and trained team has been working very hard on sorting out and categorizing all the entries to be evaluated by the judges. The winners of the various categories will be announced during the award ceremony in April.'
She added, 'The Arab Journalism Award General Assembly carefully selected highly credible and renowned judges to judge the award's 12 categories.'
This year, the Arab Journalism Award received a large number of entries from GCC and Northwest Africa. The tremendous interest in the award infact reflects the credibility that the award has earned since it was first launched in 1999.
This year, the award received 2138 entries form various Arab countries under the various categories. Each of the award category carries a prize money. The total prize value of the Award is USD 230,000/- which includes 12 categories besides the Media Personality of the Year: Politics, Business, Investigative Journalism, IT, Best Columnist, Culture, Sports, Environment, Photo-Journalism, Caricature, Interview and Journalism for children.
